Latvian Users

Depending upon which Windows version you have it may be necessary to add the Latvian keyboard drivers that allow you to write in Latvian with either the tilde or apostrophe dead keys. A simple check is to click on the new flag menu in the bottom right hand corner. If no Latvian flags appear then continue with the installation steps below.

  • Insert the LinguaType CD into the CD-ROM drive again.
  • Click on the LinguaType European title in the setup window.
  • Choose between English, German or Lithuanian interface languages and click on OK.
  • Click on the Add/Remove components button below.
  • Select the Keyboard layouts option and click on the Details button.
  • From the list of keyboard layouts select either Latvian (~) or Latvian (') or both depending on which deadkey you prefer to obtain the Latvian diacritical letters. Then click on the OK button below.
  • Ensure that the Baltic option is selected and click on the Next button below.
  • Choose the new Latvian keyboard layout as the default. Click on the Next button to continue.
  • Click on the Finish button to complete the setup. A few moments later a message dialog will appear notifying that setup was completed successfully.

To check that the new keyboard layout has been added to your Windows system click on the flag icon in the bottom right hand corner choose the new Latvian keyboard, open your favourite word processor, choose a Baltic font, eg. Humanist 777 Baltic and start typing in Latvian.
