I have multilanguage support installed on my computer. Why do I need LinguaType 2000?
Multilanguage support included in Windows is sufficient if you only want to print out a
document with a limited number of fonts. You need LinguaType 2000 to gain the ability to:
- Write in any of the three Baltic languages with easy-to-use keyboard layouts
- Customise the existing keyboard layouts
- Get more hotkey choices to switch between languages
- Use a larger variety of fonts
- Add Baltic support to just about any Windows version quickly and easily
I have the US version of Windows. Will LinguaType completely change my Windows interface into another language?
No. LinguaType 2000 only installs special system information into your Windows system
needed to support Baltic and other European languages. The Windows and applications interface
will remain original.
Where can I find the required characters on the keyboard?
The special Baltic characters are accessed via the ~ (tilde) dead-key. For example, in our
LinguaType product, if you type the tilde key nothing happens until you type the next key.
If the next key you type is the "a" key key you will get the "a" with a dash over it (â).
If you type the tilde key followed by "r" you will get a comma under the "r" character (º).
This means that rather than buying a special Latvian keyboard you can use your existing
keyboard to access all of the special Baltic letters with easy to remember keystrokes.
What is the difference between WinLogs and LinguaType?
LinguaType was specially developed for users outside of the Baltics and will run on US
and other Windows versions. Unlike WinLogs both the user interface and the manual for LinguaType
is available in English.
The Baltic letters look fine on my display but print out as garbled characters.
Make sure you have the latest version of your printer driver software installed. If you are using an older
laser printer you may need to go into the Printer Setup options and check the option "Print TrueType as Graphics".
I want to upgrade Windows 95/98 to Windows ME. Do I need to upgrade my existing WinLogs?
Absolutely. You must upgrade to LinguaType 2000 if you wish to use the Baltic software in Windows ME.
LinguaType 2000 effectively replaces WinLogs 95, WinLogs 98 and other versions into one low-cost
software package.
