- Complete Latvian Language Support
Birojs is compatible with Windows XP and Windows Vista. You can easily switch between languages
via a hot-key or by selecting the appropriate flag in the taskbar. Although Birojs
includes several pre-defined keyboard drivers for the Latvian language the keyboard
editor allows you to customise your settings and add new keystroke definitions. It is
possible to switch the interface language to either English or Latvian.

There are now even more ways to help you to translate texts to Latvian. Look up individual words in Datorvārdnīca,
move the cursor over words and phrases with Viedtulks to obtain an instant translation or copy the
the text into Tulkotājs and let this new translation utility do all the work for you.
- High quality font collection
Choose from over 80 high quality OpenType typefaces (most European languages are supported)
for your letters, invitations, reports and advertisements. Also included are two Latvian ethnographic fonts:
LatvjuRakstiA and LatvjuRakstiB which will give your document a more traditional Latvian feel as well as support for
the Liv language.
- Latvian spelling and grammar checker, thesaurus and hyphenator
With Birojs installed Microsoft Word finally understands Latvian. You can check spelling,
grammar, hyphenate and look up synonyms in the Latvian languages while typing your documents in
MS Word. If you have Office 2003 or Office 2007 these same Proofing Tools can also be used
to check spellings in Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. The
Birojs Latvian language modules are fully integrated with all of Word's normal proofing
facilities. When proofing a multilingual document, Word automatically switches to the
correct proofing tools as it encounters language changes in the text of your document.
For example, if you mark a portion of you document as Latvian, then Word automatically
uses Birojs for checking that section of the document. Spellchecking in Lotus Notes is also supported.
- Latvian, English, German and Russian dictionaries
Use the predefined hot-key or click on the taskbar to instantly translate words and
phrases between Latvian, English, German and Russian languages. The Latvian and English
dictionaries will also recognise and display multiple forms of words.
- Latvian OCR
With the included OCR software (ABBYY FineReader) you can now convert your old Latvian paper documents
to electronic versions
- Clip art and image gallery
Include Latvian clip-art in your next Powerpoint presentation or MS Word document.
- Latvian word-processor
If you don't have MS Word, Birojs includes Rakstvedis which will more than satisfy your
Latvian word-processing requirements with built-in Latvian spell-checking, thesaurus,
hyphenation, Latvian clip-art gallery and OCR integration. Rakstvedis supports Word, RTF and HTML
formats and will even export to Macintosh. Rakstvedis is used in hundreds of schools
throughout Latvia.
- Text Conversion Tools
The Text Converter will allow you to convert between several Code Tables including older
non-standard fonts. Birojs adds a macro button to both Word and Excel to automatically
convert your older documents into the Unicode-compliant MS Office 2003 and MS Office 2007
texts.
- Latvian Internet Search
New find feature will allow you to search the Internet for the word in its many possible
variations, eg. entering "iet" will find "gāja", "ies, "neaizgāja" and others.
