How is Baltic Utilities X 1.0.3 different from V1.0.2?
The latest version of Baltic Utilities X 1.0.3 has been updated to be compatible with OS X 10.3 (Panther). Although
OS X 10.3 now includes Baltic keyboard drivers, the CE fonts would not work in either AppleWorks, MS Word X and other non-Unicode
compatible applications.
Is Baltic Utilities X suitable for Estonian and Lithuanian languages?
Baltic Utilities includes fonts, keyboard drivers and other system resources for all
three Baltic languages. Switching between languages is as simple as choosing the
appropriate Baltic flag from the menu bar.
Can I read Baltic documents produced by my Windows colleagues?
Yes. If you have MS Word X you can open a Word document
produced on a Windows computer and have all the Baltic letters appear correctly.
If the text still appears to be garbled "Select All" and choose from one of the
Apple CE fonts installed on your Macintosh. This also works with MS Excel
spreadsheets. You must have Baltic Utilities X installed for this "behind the scenes"
conversion to occur between Windows and Macintosh. Baltic documents produced with MS Word 98/2001/X
can also be read correctly by MS Word 97/2000/2002 for Windows.
In Word X or AppleWorks 6 only the Courier CE font appears?
You will need to delete the following files:
Home Folder>Library>Preferences>com.apple.HIToolbox.plist
Home Folder>Library>Preferences>ByHost>com.apple.HIToolbox.numbers.plist
and then restart Mac OS X. Note that both Word X and
Appleworks 6 are Carbon applications and are yet to fully
support Unicode fonts.
I have installed Baltic Utilities X but the Estonian, Latvian or Lithuanian flag does not appear in the keyboard menu.
From the Apple menu, select "System Preferences...",
double-click on the "International" icon and choose the
"Input Menu" tab. You can turn on/off any of the Baltic
languages by clicking on the appropriate flag.
Will my older LatTimes and LatHelvetica fonts work with Baltic Utilities X?
No. These fonts are no longer supported in Mac OS X.
