What is Apple CE?
Baltic Utilities includes Apple CE fonts which comply with the official Baltic font standard for Macintosh systems. These fonts are easily identifiable by the CE suffix, for example, Times CE, Geneva CE, Helvetica CE.

Is Baltic Utilities suitable for Estonian and Lithuanian languages?
Baltic Utilities includes fonts, keyboard drivers and other system resources for all three Baltic languages. Switching between languages is as simple as choosing the appropriate Baltic flag from the top right hand side of the menu bar.

What about other European languages?
Baltic Utilities supports the following languages: Czech, English, Estonian, German, Hungarian, Latgalian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Polish, Slovak, and Slovenian.

I have installed Baltic Utilities, but I can't access the keyboard drivers.
If the keyboard drivers are not visible after you have installed Baltic Utilities then go to the Appearance Control Panel, select the Fonts tab and choose Geneva CE or similar display font. Then from the flag menu (upper right hand corner) choose Customize Menu and check the required Baltic keyboard drivers.

Can I read Baltic documents produced by my Windows colleagues?
Yes. If you have either MS Word 98 or MS Word 2001 you can open a Word document produced on a Windows computer and have all the Baltic letters appear correctly. If the text still appears to be garbled "Select All" and choose from one of the Apple CE fonts installed on your Macintosh. This also works with MS Excel spreadsheets. You must have Baltic Utilities installed for this "behind the scenes" conversion to occur between Windows and Macintosh. Baltic documents produced with MS Word 98/2001 can also be read correctly by MS Word 97 and MS Word 2000 for Windows.

Will my older LatTimes and LatHelvetica fonts work with Baltic Utilities?
Yes. Baltic Utilities also includes keyboard drivers for the older non-standard Baltic fonts. However we recommend that you use Apple CE fonts since many moderm applications may not recognise the older fonts.

How can I read Baltic newspapers on the Web?
Currently the best Web browser to view Baltic newspapers and other Web pages is Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0. The Baltic Utilities CD-ROM includes a patch for earlier versions of Netscape Navigator. See our how-to guides section for more details.

Does Baltic Utilities work with Mac OS X?
Please see the new product Baltic Utilities X for more details.
