Aleksandrs Čaks, an early 20th century poet, was the first in Latvian poetry to view Rīga
as an independent object of art encompassing all of its contrasts, realities and social
characters. The Aleksandrs Čaks Memorial Apartment, in collaboration with Digitālā darbnīca
(Digital Workshop) has created a biography of Čaks on multimedia CD.
The Aleksandrs Čaks biographical multimedia CD uses various media to attractively present
information about the poet: the Apartment, his family tree, homes and places of work,
associations in which he was active, friends and women who were significant in his life,
poems and art works dedicated to him, as well as a small selection of Čaks poetry in Latvian
with translations into the major European languages.
